Mechanical Car Keys
Mechanical Car Keys don’t require programming. They are usually found on older vehicles that don’t have electronic ignition systems.
Transponder Car Keys
A transponder key is a car key with a chip inside of it that is connected with your cars computer or immobilizer. They have been around and prevalent in the marketplace since 1995. Each key has a small microchip that has its own unique serial number, which tells the computer to start the car.
Advantages:
Transponder car keys have a more advanced system for disabling a cars ignition, so they are more theft-proof than the normal mechanical car keys.
Disadvantages:
They are more expensive to replace than normal mechanical car keys.
Recommendations:

Remote car keys have remotes that are built into the key assembly. They will usually have buttons for panic, unlock and lock car doors, and also unlock the trunk.
Fobik Car Keys
Fobik are sometimes known as car key fobs, they take specialized machines to make. There is no blade on a fobik car key, but they work by being inserted into the dash of a car just like a key. They have remotes on them which control the unlocking and locking of the doors, as well as the trunk locks in most cases. Chrysler, Jeeps, BMW’s, and Dodge vehicles are known for using Fobik car keys on there premium vehicles.
Proximity Car Key
Proximity keys are the highest priced car keys that we make at East Valley Lock & Key, it uses technology somewhat like Bluetooth, which is wireless. You do not have to stick the key in the dash to start the car. Cars that have proximity keys with have push button starts.
